I am a recovering perfectionist.
I am still learning the harmful belief system that capitalism asserts that one must grind to succeed and that in order to succeed, you must put work above all else. I’ve been the one who worked until bedtime to finish up a report for my employer. I’ve been the one who has sacrificed my mental and spiritual well being in the name of productivity.
My perfectionism and need to be the best was rooted in me not thinking that I was enough. I spent many years pouring more into my work, than I did in my own personal pursuits. This left me feeling drained, depleted and resentful and running on a hamster wheel of scarcity. . Even though I was working in an organization whose values I aligned with, my personal actions and beliefs were not congruent with my work. This lack of congruence kept me in a frenzy and in the toxic cycle of grinding. In order for me to shift this narrative, I had to step back, rest, reflect, and realign with my values in order to promote my own personal thriving. These learnings helped me to cultivate practices and rituals to transform my relationship with productivity and moved me from surviving to thriving at work.
I created this course because although many people know that another way is possible it’s hard to operationalize divesting from grind culture at work because it’s roots run so deep. However, in a rapidly changing and chaotic world, we have a unique opportunity to reimagine our relationship to work as well as to reimagine our office space and its impact on our well-being. The Grind Culture Detox is designed to embed spiritual well-being within your daily work rituals to create enhanced joy and thriving within your workday. This course will also help you to relinquish the grip that grind culture has in your work life so that you are able to heal and self actualize even when you’re at work.
You are worth more than what you can produce. Another way is possible.
